EGYPTIAN PRESIDENT DECLARES THREE-MONTH STATE OF EMERGENCY

Cairo, – Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sissi on Sunday declared a three-month state of emergency following a pair of suicide bombings at Coptic Christian churches.

The explosions in Mar Girgis and Saint Mark’s Churches, in the Egyptian northern city of Tanta and Alexandria respectively, aimed at undermining the will of the Egyptian people, Al-Sisi said in a speech to the nation.

“Confrontation with terrorists will be long and painful,” he said in a televised address following a crisis meeting related to the Palm Sunday attacks.

He said the move came after taking related legal measures.(QNA)
