Education Minister Meets UNESCO General Conference President

Doha, HE Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Wahed Al Hammadi, the minister of education and higher education and president of Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, met on Wednesday with Stanley Mutumba Simataa, president of the 38th General Conference of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

During the meeting, they discussed the agenda of the UNESCO, including the elections of the director general post and the importance of members’ commitment to support the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

They also discussed the support Qatar provides to the organization to develop education, culture and sciences to the members, and also exchanged views on educational topics in the organization’s agenda concerning education and the Education for All 2030 movement.

Simataa expressed his thanks to Qatar and the education minister for the continuous support to the organization, and the UNESCO office in Doha, which has had a profound impact in achieving the organization’s goals.

HE Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, adviser at the Emiri Diwan, is Qatar’s candidate for the director general post at the UNESCO.
