Earthquake Hits Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia


An earthquake measuring 5-magnitude on the Richter scale hit the Kamchatka Peninsula in eastern Russia on Wednesday.



According to the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) concerned with seismology, the quake occurred 14 km from Nikol’skoe village (the only residential community on Bering Island, in Kamchatka).



There was no information of damage or injuries.



The Kamchatka Peninsula is located along the Pacific Ring of Fire, making it largely exposed to seismic and volcanic activity.
