Doha – The Permanent Committee for Drugs and Alcohol Affairs held the closing ceremony of the awareness programme “Ambassadors of prevention” organized by the committee under the theme “You are leader be a model” on Wednesday.

HE Director General of the Public Security and the Chairman of the Drug and Alcohol Committee Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi attended the event along with dignitaries including the jury members of the contests for students.

He pointed out that the awareness program which was organized to make the public aware of the dangers of drugs and alcohols was a successful result of the collaboration between the Committee and other official bodies in the State. The programme included different training activities for students, specialized training courses and courses for Imams of Masjids in addition to art contests for preparatory and primary students and scientific research completion for secondary students.

He expressed his hope that the collaborative programme would help in spreading awareness of the dangers of addiction and protecting all segments of society from the dangers of the scourge and contribute greatly to increasing their awareness and concern about the risks of drugs. He also expressed his thanks to all bodies who participated in the “Ambassadors of prevention programme -2017”.

Major Tariq Ali Al Maliki, Secretary of the PCDAA said that 20 schools participated in the awareness programme where 120 students were trained on how to educate their mates about the dangers of drugs and their impact on the individual and the family and society. The programme focused on a number of educational themes such as general concepts of drugs and life skills that help young people to face life as well as religious preaching and guidance.

At the end of the ceremony, HE the Director General of Public Security honoured the participants in the awareness programmes and winners of the art competitions held for primary and secondary school students.
