De Mitsura says UN won't give up on Syrian people

GENEVA, Jan 28 (KUNA) — UN Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Syria Staffan de Mistura delivered a televised message on Thursday that the UN will exert further efforts to meet demands of the Syrian people, saying the UN will never give up on the Syrians.
He said that Syrian-Syrian talks are held in order to make progress to restore stability, peace and dignity to Syria, adding that Syrians, who have been suffering from five-year-old conflict, deserve this.
He noted that the UN needs badly Syrians’ capabilities to reach a compromise solution during discussions in order to find a peaceful settlement to the crisis.
He stressed that the Geneva talks could not fail as soon as all Syrian people call for halting killing, destruction, torture, imprisonment and shelling buildings.
The envoy said the UN realizes that Syrians do not want further humiliation and migration through the Mediterranean Sea; they want to go back to normal life and their children return to their schools. (end)
