Khartoum, – Chairman of Darfur peace follow-up office, Magdy Khalafalla, has welcomed the positive report of U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres on stability in Darfur region in western Sudan.

Speaking on Wednesday, Khalafalla said the report supports the peace process and backs stability in the region, adding that it came in line with the government efforts to establish peace and reflects the reality of peace in the region.

He added that Darfur is enjoying security and stability while development projects continue, stressing that the Sudanese presidency pays special attention to the peace process in Darfur.

Khalafalla noted that the appointment of Jeremiah Mamabolo, the joint special representative of the U.N. and African Union for United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), will help in enhancing peace and deepening cooperation towards a sustainable peace in Darfur. (QNA)
