Commerce Min. touts single-window project as time-saving

KUWAIT, June 25 (KUNA) — The Commerce and Industry Ministry’s single-window project and separation of corporate founding and licensing procedures has reduced the company founding period from 45 to four days, a senior official said on Saturday.
Anybody can now apply for establishing a limited liability or one-person company through a single visit to the single-window department, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Khaled Al-Shamali said in a press release.
He added that online applications could be submitted through the following website: (www.kbc.gov.kw), and then a date could be set for a visit to the one-stop service.
Under the license law, the minister of commerce and industry is the only official who can issue trade licenses, Al-Shamali said, adding that license-issuance is subject to specific regulations and rules.
For instance, medical activities as business fall within the purview of the Ministry of Commerce in terms of licensing, and then applicants ought to get the approval of the Health Ministry, he said.
The same thing applies to investment firms which are subject to the supervision of the Capital Market Authority in view of license-issuance, the senior commerce official pointed out.
The single-window service is headquartered at Ashbilia area and more offices will be opened gradually in all other governorates, he added.
The new system would surely serve young people who own small and medium-sized enterprises by means of cutting the license-issuance procedure period, he noted.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is currently conducting all-out studies for revamping online trading due to its paramount significance worldwide, Al-Shamali added. (end) mka.amh.mt
