Clashes kill 16 rebels, 3 soldiers in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, June 10 (KUNA) — At least 16 Taliban rebels and three Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed in round-the-clock operations in different parts of Afghanistan, said Ministry of Defense (MoD) on Friday.
The operations were launched by Afghan security personnel in Nangarhar, Paktika, Ghazni, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Baghlan, Balkh, Jawzjan, Faryab, Kunduz and Helmand provinces, MoD said in a statement.
A number of weapons and ammunition were also destroyed in the operations.
In addition, the ministry confirmed the death of three ANA soldiers during the offensives, but did not disclose the exact location. Taliban group has not commented on the statement so far.
The statement came at a time when the clashes between Taliban and security forces have paced up following the launch of spring offensive by Taliban across Afghanistan, rejecting the peace dialogue offer by Afghan government. (end) sbk.msa
