Canada plans to accept extra 10,000 Syrian refugees by early '17

WASHINGTON, March 31 (KUNA) — Canada plans to welcome an additional 10,000 Syrian refugees, who will receive private sponsorship, between late 2016 and early 2017, its Immigration Minister John McCallum said on Thursday.
“We are doing everything we can to accommodate the very welcomed desire on the part of Canadians to sponsor refugees,” McCallum added in a phone interview with Canada’s CBC News.
The Canadian minister is in Germany where he is meeting officials there.
Up until February, Canada has been hosting 25,000 Syrian refugees. (end) sd.hb
