Cabinet Approves Regulation of Licensing Private Higher Education Institutions and Their Programs

The Cabinet, at its weekly meeting chaired by Prime Minister HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani at Amiri Diwan, yesterday morning, approved a draft resolution by the Minister of Education and Higher Education on the executive regulations of the law on Regulating Higher Education. The project aims to regulate the governance of the higher education sector, enhance the quality of higher education institutions, and regulate the work of private educational institutions and university service centers.

The draft resolution includes the provisions relating to the regulation of the licensing of private higher education institutions and their programs, regulating licensing of university service centers, setting the specification of the conditions of private higher education institutions and university service centers, determining conditions to be met by employees at private higher education institutions and university service centers, and determining which records and files must be kept.

During the meeting, the Cabinet also approved a draft decision by the Minister of Finance to establish sections in the administrative units comprising the Ministry of Finance and to indicate their responsibilities.
