Bus explosion kills 15 people N. Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, March 16 (KUNA) — At least 15 people were killed and 25 others wounded as a bomb ripped through a bus carrying government employees in Pakistan’s northern Peshawar city on Wednesday, said officials.
Senior police official Cantonment Muhammad Kashif in a statement said that the blast was caused by Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted inside the bus. “Fifteen people were killed and 25 others were severely injured,” he confirmed. The blast took place near Peshawar’s Sunehri Masjid area targeting a Civil Secretariat bus that was carrying government employees from Mardan city to the provincial capital.
The rescue teams immediately shifted the injured to the nearby hospitals where an emergency was imposed. Security forces cordoned off the area and a search operation went underway. Fear and panic spread among residents as windows of nearby buildings broke due to the impact of the powerful explosion. Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has strongly condemned the explosion expressing his deep grief and sorrow over loss of precious lives in the blast. (end) sbk.hb
