Belgian PM rejects resignation of two ministers

BRUSSELS, March 24 (KUNA) — Belgian prime minister Charles Michel rejected Thursday the resignations of two members of his government, interior minister Jan Jambon and justice minister Koen Geens.
Belgian media said Prime Minister Michel is keen to keep the government functioning and to ensure that both ministers are able to continue their work.
Jambon was quoted saying that “we were asked to stay on and not to desert this war situation. The government and parliament will live through this together with the population.” He noted that Tuesday’s terror attacks in Brussels had raised questions about the functioning of the police and justice system in Belgium Geens confirmed his resignation offer, but insisted he was now determined to carry on working hard.
