Belgian court upholds sentences of four on terrorism charges

BRUSSELS, Jan 28 (KUNA) — An appeals court in the Belgian city of Antwerp upheld on Thursday the conviction of Fouad Belkacem and three other members of a banned organisation called “Sharia4Belgium” (Sharia for Belgium) for terrorism activities.
He was sentenced to 12 years in prison and a fine of 30,000 euros. The court thus confirmed the sentence handed down by the court of first instance last year. Two other members Houssein Eloussaki and Said M’Nari were given the same sentences.
A fourth member Mohamed Y. was sentenced to four years in prison and a fine of 15,000 for involvement in terrorist activities.
In February 2015 the group was designated a terrorist organization in Belgium. (end)
