DHAKA, Bangladesh, Bangladeshi Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina Wajed, affirmed her country’s support for Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, adviser at the Emiri Diwan and Qatar’s candidate for the director general post, at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

This came, when Sheikh Hasina Wajed met today, with Qatar’s candidate, at the headquarters of the prime ministry in Dhaka, where she stressed that, this support is an expression of the depth of bilateral relations and confidence, in the competency of the Qatari candidate.

She expressed the wish to further strengthen relations between the two countries and wished success to Dr Al Kuwari, looking forward to cooperating with him in the future.

The Qatari candidate appreciated the trust and support by Bangladesh, and presented a detailed explanation about his plan and vision, for the development of UNESCO, expressing his thanks to the Prime Minister and looking forward to her country’s support for his candidacy.

The meeting was attended by Qatar’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Dehaimi and a number of advisers to the prime minister.

In a related development, Dr Al Kuwari met with Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, who listened to a detailed explanation about his vision. Then, the Foreign Minister presented a written document on the support of his country for Qatar’s UNESCO candidate, saying, it is a confirmation of the distinguished relations between the two countries, and shows confidence in his experience in performing his duties.

Dr Al Kuwari expressed his thanks to Bangladesh and hoped for more cooperation for the sake of international organisation.

The UNESCO candidate also met the Bangladeshi Minister of Culture, Asaduzzaman Noor, where their talks touched on the cultural and heritage aspect of the Qatari candidate’s vision, while wishing Dr Al Kuwari success in his mission.
