At least 8 killed, 30 injured when passenger bus overturns in Aksaray

AKSARAY (CIHAN)- At least eight passengers were killed and 30 injured when a passenger bus overturned on the Aksaray-Ankara Highway early on Wednesday.

The accident occurred at the 20th kilometer mark along the highway. A Has Tourism bus, carrying passengers from Istanbul to Hatay province, overturned when the driver of the bus lost control of the vehicle and rolled off the road.

A large number of ambulances and search and rescue team were deployed to the scene of the accident. According to media reports, at least eight were killed in the accident. The media reports say the number of injured passengers is at least 30. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

In another traffic incident, a pileup involving three vehicles killed two people and injured five others on the D-140 highway in Sakarya province’s AkyazI district late on Tuesday.

The accident took place at around 8 p.m. between Kuzuluk village and AkyazI. A car headed toward the AdapazarI district from AkyazI collided with a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction, and another car crashed into the two collided cars. The third vehicle was divided into two pieces. Abdullah Asan, the driver of the third car, and Suheyla Aldemir died at the scene. The five injured passengers were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Another passenger bus accident occurred in the Black Sea province of Samsun on Wednesday.

The accident took place in Samsun’s Canik municipality when a bus carrying passengers from Rize to Samsun’s Bafra district overturned. According to media reports, similar to the accident in Aksaray, the bus driver lost control of the vehicle and it rolled off the road.

Police teams and ambulances were deployed to the scene of the accident. Media reports indicate that at least 26 passengers were injured.

The injured passengers were rushed to Samsun Education and Research Hospital, Samsun State Hospital and Ondokuz MayIs University Medical Faculty Hospital for treatment.
