Assailants attack oil field with rocket fire

ALGIERS, March 18 (KUNA) — Unknown assailants targeted an oil field in the southern region of Algeria with rocket fire without causing casualties, local reports said relying on Algerian security sources on Friday.
The attack took place at a location called Krechba, about two thousand kilometers south of the capital city of Algiers where the oil field is being operated there by foreign companies, said the local reports.
Algerian army forces were dispatched immediately in hot pursuit of the anonymous assailants.
The southern region of the country is heavily fortified with army forces in frequent combat with rebellious armed groups. Recently the army’s clashes with them resulted in killing three of them and confiscating a large cache of weapons. (end) ft.ajs
