Arab media can re-innovate itself, shape future: Dr. Sultan Al Jaber.

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and President of the National Media Council, NMC, praised the efforts of Arab media institutions to improve their performance, in light of the accelerating social, economic and scientific developments taking place in the region and around the world while stressing that there are many opportunities to develop and improve media performance, through advanced tools provided by new technologies.

In a statement marking the start of the 18th Arab Media Forum in Dubai, Dr. Al Jaber stressed that the annual forum is an opportunity for relevant experts and specialists to re-innovate the Arab media, through discussing the current situation, exchanging their views on related challenges, and presenting opportunities for supporting the process of Arab media development, as well as reinforcing the media’s positive role in predicting and shaping the future.

“The world is moving towards the fourth industrial revolution and is adopting Artificial Intelligence, AI, and other tools with various applications, which will change the nature of the labour market, the economy, and the details of daily life. It is important for the Arab media to utilise relevant tools and their expertise, to perform an effective role in raising awareness and analysing developments, as well as to benefit from their positive aspects, making the media a partner in shaping the future,” Al Jaber said.

“It is also important to develop media methods that will reinforce the cohesion between Arab communities and achieve development and prosperity. The media in the UAE is a successful model of such efforts, through presenting and discussing various topics with professionalism and objectivity,” he added.

Dr. Al Jaber highlighted the NMC’s keenness to create an advanced working environment in the UAE, as well as its commitment to supporting the role of media institutions in achieving the country’s comprehensive development, predicting the future, and keeping pace with the latest developments.

He also praised the efforts of everyone who contributed to organising the forum, which has become a leading media platform for creating the future.
