Aoun heads to KSA, Qatar

President of the Lebanese Republic, General Michel Aoun, headed on Monday to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on top of an official Lebanese delegation comprised of Information Minister Melhem Riachy, Foreign Affairs Minister Gibran Bassil, Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil, National Defense Minister Yaacoub Sarraf, State Minister for Presidential Affairs Pierre Raffoul, Economy and Trade Minister Raed Khoury, Lebanese Ambassador to KSA Abdel Sattar Issa.

The visit comes upon an official invitation from Saudi King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saoud.

On Wednesday, President Aoun will head to Qatar in response to an invitation from King of Qatar Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani.

Separately, Aoun received at Baabda Palace Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Kintaro Sonora, who conveyed to his host the felicitations of the Japanese President on the election of General Aoun as a President and on forming a new government. The Japanese Minister reassured his country’s will to continue supporting Lebanon at all levels.

Later on, President Aoun received a French parliamentary delegation headed by MP Thierry Mariani whereupon Aoun said, “The cycle of political life in Lebanon started in a good manner after ending the presidential vacuum and forming a new government.” He hoped that amelioration in situation would entail all sectors.

Aoun said that the dialogue between countries concerned with the crises in the region “will reap common factors.”
