ALGERIAN DEPUTY DEFENCE MINISTER ON OFFICIAL VISIT TO QATAR

ALGIERS, March 30 – Algerian Deputy Minister of National Defence and Chief of Staff of the National Popular Army (ANP), Lieutenant-General Ahmed Gaid Salah, is in Qatar for an official visit during which he attended the 5th Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2016).

A Ministry of National Defence statement said the visit, from Tuesday to Thursday, was at the invitation of the adviser to the Emir of Qatar for Defence Affairs and Prime Minister, Major-General Hamad bin Ali Al-Attiyah.

It added that the visit of Gen. Gaid Salah was part of the strengthening of bonds of brotherhood, friendship and co-operation between the Algerian National Popular Army and the armed forces of Qatar and would enable both sides to discuss issues of common interest.

On Tuesday, Gen GaA�d Salah took part in the opening ceremony of the 5th International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference in the Qatari capital, Doha, where he was received, along with the defence ministers of other participating countries, by Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar.”

Later, Gen Gaid Salah visited the stands of some countries participating in the exhibition, notably those of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and China, where he learned about the latest technological progress in the field of security and maritime defence, said the statement.
