Algerian Army Destroys Shelter for Militants and 13 Homemade Bombs

Algiers, – A detachment of Algerian army has destroyed a shelter for militants and 13 homemade bombs in Tizi Ouzou, Chlef and Constantine, while elements of the national gendarmerie arrested four individuals for links to extremist groups in Annaba, the Algerian National Defense Ministry said Thursday in a statement carried by state news agency APS.

“As part of counterterrorism, detachments of the [People’s National Army] (ANP) destroyed on 7 September 2016 one cache for terrorists and 13 homemade bombs in Tizi Ouzou, Chlef (1st military region) and Constantine (5 military region) while elements of the National Gendarmerie arrested four individuals supporting terrorist groups in Annaba (5th military region),” the statement said.

As part of border security and the fight against organized crime, an army detachment arrested 41 smugglers in In Guezzam and seized one all-train-vehicle, 21 power generators, 15 jackhammers and several gold washing means, the ministry added.
