The 3-year-old colt WALLEM (Sea The Moon x A L’Anglaise), in the colours of Al Rabban Racing & Partner, scored on just his third career start at Wolverhampton, UK on Monday, 18 January, evening. Ridden by Hayley Turner, he sat in midfield in the 1,900m race led at a steady pace by BE MY BEAU (Brazen Beau x Sylvestris). Racing in a good rhythm, WALLEM, who started the race as favourite, was shuffled back in the final turn and entered the home straight several lengths from the leader in 7th or 8th position. Coming up through his rivals, who had spread across the track, he showed an excellent acceleration to join the leaders with still a furlong left to run. Taking the lead with plenty left in hand, he won cosily by 1¼ lengths in front of CARMENERE (Dawn Approach x Sacred Aspect).
WALLEM is by Sea The Moon, a leading sire who stands at Lanwades Stud in Newmarket. He is the first foal out of the winning Invincible Spirit mare À L’Anglaise. He was bought as a yearling by Al Rabban Racing at the Tattersalls December Yearling Sale.
