Abu Dhabi Hosts Second Meeting of the UAE-France Strategic Dialogue Committee in 2013


Abu Dhabi, 22nd Nov. 2013 (WAM): The UAE-France Strategic Dialogue Committee held its second meeting of 2013 in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by senior representatives of both countries whose focus was to discuss and explore how to extend bilateral cooperation in a number of important areas.


Co-chaired by Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority of Abu Dhabi, and Mr Pierre Sellal, Secretary General of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Personal Representative of the President of the Republic for the Strategic Dialogue with the UAE, the work of the Committee aims to:


? Strengthen bilateral relations between the UAE and France;

? Identify opportunities for potential partnership and coordination; and to

? Facilitate ongoing collaboration on individual projects and initiatives.


Currently, the work of the UAE-France Strategic Dialogue Committee focuses on four priority areas, each of which is led by a dedicated sub-committee.


1. Economy and Investment

2. Nuclear and Renewable Energy Cooperation

3. Education

4. Culture


During the meeting of the UAE-France Strategic Dialogue Committee, the parties expressed their satisfaction regarding the significant progress achieved in all areas of our cooperation and set ambitious objectives for the work for the coming months.


The next meeting of the Strategic Dialogue Committee will take place in France in Spring 2014.


Through collaborative and high-level initiatives such as the UAE-France Strategic Dialogue Committee, the UAE and France continue to build upon its longstanding and productive social, cultural, political and economic relations.
