A Workshop on Monitoring Air Quality Launched

Today (Monday) morning, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment – represented by Department of Monitoring and Environmental Laboratory and in collaboration with the USA Embassy in Doha ? organized a workshop on monitoring air quality at the headquarters of the Environmental Affairs Sector (Al-Udaid).

Engineer Ahmad Muhammad As-Sadah, the Assistant Undersecretary of Environmental Affairs, Mr. Jack Broadbent, Chief Executive Officer and Officer of Combating Air Contamination at the State of California, Mr. Hassan Ali Qassimi, Director of the Department of Monitoring and Environmental Laboratory in the Ministry and a number of the Ministry’s officers and employees participated in the opening ceremony.

In the opening speech of the workshop, Engineer Ahmad Muhammad As-Sadah, the Assistant Undersecretary of Environmental Affairs, confirmed that the interest paid by the State of Qatar towards the environment and its sustainability generally and attention to air quality specifically coincide with the global attention to such affair. This interest has been clearly reflected in Qatar National Vision 2030 by conserving the environment for the future generations. It is our duty as an official authority in the State to continuously work towards developing our capabilities and making use of the experience of others in maintaining and improving air quality.

He added: “During the two days of the workshop, we hope to get acquainted with the experience and technologies used in Air Quality Management in the State of California, and discuss the potential fields of cooperation. We also hope that discussions and exchange of ideas shall lead to understanding the best means to improve Air Quality Management in our country and identifying the best practices and experiences to realize this objective”.
