47th Cairo Int'l Book Fair opens, Bahrain guest of honor

CAIRO, Jan 27 (KUNA) — Egypt’s Prime Minister Sherif Ismail on Wednesday opened the 47th edition of the Cairo International Book Fair, themed “Culture on the Frontline.” The annual cultural event concludes on February 10.
The Kingdom of Bahrain is this year’s guest of honor.
Some 34 countries and 850 publishers – 50 foreigners, 250 Arabs and 550 Egyptians – are taking part in the Fair that also includes 560 activities.
Dozens of functions will be held as of the first day of the Fair; cultural gatherings, lectures, poetry soirees, concerts and folklore shows, the Supreme Council of Culture previously announced. (end) asm.msa
