34 more airstrikes target IS in Syria, Iraq

WASHINGTON, June 1 (KUNA) — The US-led coalition against the so-called Islamic State (IS) launched 34 airstrikes in Syria and Iraq Tuesday, the Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) said in its report Wednesday.
In Syria, 21 airstrikes targeted the group’s facilities and equipment near Ar Raqqah, Manbij, and Mar’a, the report showed. In Iraq, 13 airstrikes targeted IS facilities and equipment near Fallujah, Hit, Mosul, Rawah, Sinjar, and Sultan Abdullah.
The Coalition maintained that a single airstrike “means one or more kinetic events that occur in roughly the same geographic location to produce a single, sometimes cumulative effect for that location,” as indicated in the report. (end) ys.ibi
