33rd Doha Theater Festival kicks off

DOHA, March 27 (KUNA) — Qatari Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem Al-Ali inaugurated Sunday evening the 33rd Doha Theater Festival at Qatar National Theater.
Five plays are competing in the event, which will last till April 2. The plays would be performed, and a panel discussion would be held for each during the festival days.
The festival offers over 200,000 Qatari riyals awards, the most important of which is the best integrated theatrical performance prize of 80,000 riyals, followed by the best Qatari author prize of 25,000 riyals, and the best director prize of 25,000 riyals.
Other prizes include best actors, best actresses, decor, fashion, lighting, make-up, sound effects, and the best Arab contribution. (Qatari riyal equals USD 0.27) (end) nnd.ibi
