18 strikes in Syria, 14 in Iraq target IS – coalition

WASHINGTON, June 14 (KUNA) — Coalition military forces continued to attack the so-called Islamic State (IS), conducting 18 strikes in Syria and 14 in Iraq, the Combined Joint Task Force announced on Tuesday.
In Syria near Manbij, 15 strikes struck 12 separate IS tactical units and destroyed six IS fighting positions, three IS cave entrances, an IS weapons cache, an IS command-and-control node, two IS vehicles and an IS security headquarters, the announcement said.
Near Marآ’a, three strikes struck two IS tactical units and destroyed an IS fighting position, an IS tactical vehicle and an IS mortar system, it said.
In Iraq near Bayji, one strike struck an IS weapons factory, it said.
Near Fallujah, two strikes struck two IS tactical units and destroyed 19 IS fighting positions, two IS vehicles, four IS heavy machine guns, four IS rocket-propelled grenade systems, eight IS light machine guns, three IS recoilless rifles and an IS mortar system, and denied IS access to terrain, the statement said.
Near Kisik, two strikes struck an IS tactical unit and suppressed an IS mortar position, it said.
Near Mosul, three strikes struck three separate IS tactical units and destroyed an IS mortar system, an IS supply cache and an IS vehicle, it said.
Near Qayyarah, four strikes struck three separate IS tactical units and an IS headquarters, and destroyed an IS fighting position, an IS assembly area and two IS mortar systems; suppressed a separate IS tactical unit; and denied IS access to terrain, the statement said.
Near Ramadi, two strikes struck two separate IS tactical units and an IS fighting position, it said. (end) rm.bs
