12 soldiers killed in helicopter crash S. Algiers

ALGIERS, March 27 (KUNA) — Around 12 soldiers were killed and two others injured in a helicopter crash south of the Algerian capital, the defense ministry announced Sunday.
The military transport helicopter crashed while inspecting Reggane district, the ministry said in a statement, noting that severe sandstorms hit the area during the plane’s inspection.
Meanwhile, Algerian Deputy Defense Minister and Army’s Chief-of-Staff Lieutenant General Ahmad Kaid Saleh has ordered an investigation to determine the causes of the accident, the statement added. (end) ft.ma
