DOHA, Qatar, The Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, has directed payment of USD 12 million, to solve the electricity blackouts in the Gaza Strip, official media reported Sunday.

Sheikh Tamim stressed the urgency to lunch an international cooperation, to study the problem of electricity in the Strip, and make proposals in order to solve it quickly.

The Qatari Amir made his remarks, after meeting earlier with Dr. Ismail Haniyeh, deputy chairman of the Islamic Resistance Movement’s (Hamas) political bureau, in Palestine.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Mohammad Al-Emadi, Qatari Chairman of the National Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, said that, his country will pay USD four million per month, for three months, to solve the electricity problem in the Gaza Strip.

The payments are to be transferred immediately, to the Palestinian authority, to solve this problem facing Gaza’s residents, Al-Emadi said, adding that, Doha will also work with the Palestinian government and international bodies, to end this issue completely.
