Woman shot dead during police operation laid to rest

Dilek Dogan, a 25-year-old woman who was shot during a police raid in her house in İstanbul on Oct. 18, was buried in her hometown Kahramanmaras on Tuesday.

The funeral of the woman was taken to Turkcayiri neighborhood in Afsin district in the morning. The family and relatives of Dogan later took her coffin to the graveyard. Following a funeral prayer, the body of the woman was buried in tears. Sevill Kilicdaroglu, spouse of Kemal Kilicdaroglu, leader of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) also attended at the funeral. Gendarmerie forces took security measures during the funeral service.

Dilek Dogan was shot during a police raid, of which the authorities said the purpose was to search for a suspected Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party/Front (DHKP/C) militant, on Oct. 18 in İstanbul’s fractious Kucukarmutlu neighborhood.
