Washington closely cooperates with Baku in energy security

The United States closely cooperates with Azerbaijan in the field of energy security and economic development.

Robert Cekuta, the U.S. ambassador to Azerbaijan made the remarks on June 2 at an official reception dedicated to the XXII International “Caspian Oil and Gas 2015” exhibition in Baku.

He said the main aim of this cooperation is to turn Azerbaijan into a prosperous country.

“Relations between the two countries are at high level more than 20 years,” Cekuta stressed.

Speaking about the First European Games to be held in Baku on June 12-28, the ambassador said the Games are a good reason to bring together representatives of all nations.

On behalf of the government and his own, Cekuta wished success to all participants of the Games, as well as Azerbaijani athletes.

Later, Irfan Siddiq, Britain’s ambassador to Baku spoke about the high-level cooperation in oil-gas area between his country and Azerbaijan.

Furthermore, Alderman Alan Yarrow, the Lord Mayor of the City of London expressed his gratitude for high-level hospitality. He expressed confidence that the first European Games will be a success for Azerbaijan.

Officials, MPs, ambassadors, representatives of international organizations to Azerbaijan, members of the public attended the reception.

The International Caspian Oil and Gas Conference, which is an important part of the business program, is underway in Baku. Over 500 delegates from more than 30 countries take part in the annual conference. More than 50 representatives of state bodies, leading experts in the oil and gas industry and chief executives of major oil and gas companies from different countries is expected to address the conference.

The conference that kicked off on June 2 will finish its work on June 4.
