Two policemen injured in shootout in western Turkey

EDIRNE: Two police officers were injured in a shootout in the western province of Edirne on late Sunday.

The incident took place on Zubeyde Hanim Street. Reportedly, four men coming from Istanbul arrived at a cafe and began to open fire due to hostility with an individual at the cafe. Two officers named Muzaffer Coban and Erkan Yildirm who were at the cafe during the attack run after the men. While chasing them, a shooting took place, which left them injured.

The officers were taken to the Edirne State Hospital and overcame a life-threatening situation.

Meanwhile, the four assailants were later seized and arrested by the police in an operation.
