Turks living in Azerbaijan, Egypt elect next president

KAHIRE (CIHAN)- Turkish people living abroad continued to cast their votes to elect Turkey’s new president, which is the first time that expatriate Turks vote in Turkish elections from their countries of residence.

In Egypt, voting began at 8 a.m. and will last 5 p.m. Cairo director of the Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research (SETA) Abdullah AydoIan KalabalIk told Cihan news agency that there are a total of 826 voters in Cairo and around 300 voters in Alexandria.

Close to 2.8 million expatriate Turks in 54 countries — though around half of these expatriates are in Germany — are eligible to vote at Turkish diplomatic missions and other designated areas.
