TURKPA observation mission arrives in Azerbaijan

Baku: On 29 October 2015, observation mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking Countries (TURKPA) arrived in Baku to conduct a short-term monitoring of the parliamentary elections to be held in the Republic of Azerbaijan on 1 November 2015, TURKPA’s press service told APA.

The mission is led by Mr. Serikjan Kanayev, member of Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Chairman of the TURKPA Commission on Economic Cooperation.

The programme of visit includes meetings of observers with the Chairman of Milli Mejlis of Azerbaijan and current TURKPA Chairman-in-Office Mr. Ogtay Asadov, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan Mr. Mezahir Panahov and with top officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, as well as other meetings of the mission are scheduled to take place.

On 2 November, observation missions will held a press conference on the conclusions of the parliamentary elections.

Since 2010 TURKPA missions observe presidential and parliamentary elections in its member countries – Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey. TURKPA deployed observers in Azerbaijan also during parliamentary elections in 2010 and presidential elections in 2013.
