Turkish military says PKK kidnapped three workers

Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorists have kidnapped three workers from a construction site in the southeastern province of Şırnak, the Turkish military said on Tuesday.

When a local resident informed a gendarmerie outpost about the kidnapping, the chief public prosecutor in Cizre, a district of Şırnak, launched an investigation into the incident.

The victims are employed by a private company on a project to build a road between Eruh, a district of the southeastern province of Siirt, and Güçlükonak, a town of Şırnak, and were working when PKK militants stormed the site, the military said.

Two special operations units from the Turkish gendarmerie have been deployed to the area to secure the workers’ release. According to reports, the PKK militants took shelter in the mountainous terrain after kidnapping the workers.
