The Turkish military on Monday firmly denied reports claiming that the jailed leader of the outlawed Kurdistan Workersand#39 Party (PKK), Abdullah andOumlcalan, referred to cooperation between the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) — a Syrian Kurdish group with close links to the PKK — and Turkish troops over the relocation of an Ottoman tomb in Syria in his Nevruz message.

The military says it condemns those who allege that Turkish troops cooperated with a terrorist group.

In a statement released on its website, the military said some media groups published reports of the remarks of andldquothe leader of terroristsandquot in which andOumlcalan said andldquoEIme spirit, andquot referring to the new location of the tomb.

It said the reports, alleging cooperation between the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) and the PYDKK through the remarks of andOumlcalan, who was never a part of the military and will never be, do not reflect the truth.

The militaryand#39s statement also said it strongly condemns those who subscribe to the allegations of TSK cooperation with the PKK.

The Turkish military has engaged in a 31-year battle against the terrorist organization, which it says aims to change Turkeyand#39s constitutional order

The military also vowed to wage war on against any terrorist organization and ruled out it being an actor in internal political debates.

On Saturday two politicians from the pro-Kurdish Peoplesand#39 Democratic Party (HDP) read PKK leader andOumlcalanand#39s letter to a crowd of tens of thousands attending Nevruz celebrations in the southeastern province of DiyarbakIr

The PKK leaderand#39s two-page letter came as part of a settlement process which consists of closed-door talks between andOumlcalan in his prison on the island of ImralI, and state officials, particularly representatives from the National Intelligence Organization (MIT).

Last month, Turkish soldiers launched an overnight raid into Syria to evacuate dozens of besieged troops guarding the tomb of Sanduumlleyman Iah — the grandfather of the founder of the Ottoman Empire — to a new location, which is being referred to as Syrian Ashme and which is across the border from the EImeler village in IanlIurfaand#39s Birecik district. A spokesman for President Recep Tayyip ErdoIan previously denied claims that Turkeyand#39s cross-border operation to Syria to rescue troops at an Ottoman tomb took place with the help of the PYD, calling the group a terrorist organization.

After the TSKand#39s statement, the pro-Kurdish Peoplesand#39 Democratic Party (HDP) submitted a proposal to the Parliament Speakerand#39s Office to establish a parliamentary commission to investigate civil-military relations in Turkey. In the proposal, the HDP stated that the militaryand#39s influence in the social and political spheres still persists in Turkey.
