Turkish Cyprus lifts visa requirement for Greek Cyprus

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC) has lifted visa requirement at border crossings with Republic of Cyprus, which will be put into effect as of midnight on Saturday.

According to new regulation, people will no longer have to carry out visa procedures and can enter KKTC by showing their identity cards to the officials on border gate.

A written statement was released by the KKTC Interior Ministry following a meeting between Turkish Cypriot President Mustafa Akıncı and Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiades on Friday to resume peace negotiations over the Cyprus issue.

The statement said “The travel papers required by KKTC citizens and foreigners traveling from KKTC to South Cyprus and from South Cyprus to the KKTC will no longer be required as of May 16, 2015”
