Ciliv did not give any specific reason for his decision to step down but there are rumors that he was not happy with the government’s appointments and increased political control over the company.

Ciliv is the seventh senior Turkcell executive to quit since the Capital Markets Board (SPK) started making appointments in March 2013. The SPK made appointments to the Turkcell board due to disputes between the operator’s major shareholders.
