Turgutreis classical music fest expands to Bodrum Castle

The southwestern holiday resort town of Turgutreisand’ annual D-Marin International Classical Music Festival, the worldand’s first and only classical music event held at a marina, is expanding to the historic Bodrum Castle in its 11th edition, set to take place in mid-August.
Put together by the Istanbul-based concert promoter Pozitif Live, the 2015 festival will feature 11 concerts in five days, from Aug. 15-19, the organizers say on the festivaland’s website. The program includes appearances by such world stars as singer Buika, violinist Sarah Chang and pianist-composers Eleni Karaindrou and Fazil Say.
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of renowned maestro Charles Dutoit, will open the festival. The Ankara-based Presidential Symphony Orchestra (CSO) will accompany Buika in a symphonic performance of the Spanish singerand’s best-known songs while Greeceand’s Karaindrou will take to the stage at Bodrum Castle for a performance in which she will be joined by the Istanbul Sinfonietta. The festival will close with Fazil Sayand’s musical tribute to 20th-century Turkish short-story writer Sait Faik Abasiyanik.
