Top military council convenes for yearly meeting

ANKARA (CIHAN)- The Supreme Military Board (YAI) convened on Monday under chairmanship of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip ErdoIan in Ankara for a three-day yearly meeting during which appointments and dismissals at the military are discussed.

The meeting was attended by chief of General Staff, Gen. Necdet zel, Defense Minister Ismet YIlmaz, Land Forces Commander Gen. Hulusi Akar, Naval Forces Commander vice Adm. Bulent BostanoIlu, Air Forces Commander AkIn zturk and other top military officials.

Prior to the meeting, members of the YAI paid a visit to AnItkabir, mausoleum of founder of Turkish Republic Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. The meeting will end on Wednesday and the decisions taken by the members will be submitted to President Abdullah Gul and later publicized.
