Zarrab visits prosecutor who dropped charges against himIranian businessman and graft suspect Reza Zarrab visited Prosecutor Ekrem AydIner at his office on Wednesday at the Istanbul Courthouse, a day after Zarrab received a large sum of money and two kilograms of gold which had been seized from him by the police as part of a corruption probe last yearOn Tuesday Turkish authorities also returned the money they had confiscated from the son of an ex-minister and the aide of Zarrab — who was at the heart of a corruption scandal last year and — with interest. Zarrab received TL 1 million, 800,000 euros, $60,000 and two kilograms of gold, with interest.

The amount of interest on the money confiscated from Zarrab is reported to be TL 55,000.Zarrab, who visited AydInerand#39s office on Wednesday, declined to comment on the nature of his visit to reporters.

Prosecutor AydIner in October dropped a case against the suspects of the Dec. 17 corruption investigation after it was launched 10 months ago in a move that was seen to be intended to cover up the investigation.

Turkish media cited sources close to the matter as saying on Wednesday that Zarrab filed a complaint with the prosecutor, claiming that he is andquotbeing tailed by someone he doesnand#39t know.andrdquoThe Dec.

17 graft probe was set up to investigate allegations that a criminal organization headed by Zarrab distributed TL 137 million ($66 million) in bribes to the former economy, interior and EU ministers, their sons and possibly a number of other bureaucrats in order to cloak fictitious exports and money laundering.
