Iener Ien to receive special award in Germany for ‘EIkIya’ roleTurkish actor Iener Ien will be honored with a special prize for a film he acted in around 20 years ago at this yearand#39s Nuremberg Turkish-German Film Festival.The veteran actor will receive the 20th festivaland#39s honorary award for his leading role in the 1996 drama andldquoEIkIyaandrdquo (The Bandit), the Cihan news agency reported Tuesday, citing an announcement from the festivaland#39s Turkish organizers.

Ien, 73, a screen actor equally famous for his roles in comedies as well as in dramas, is arguably best-known internationally for his portrayal of the leading character in the epic crime drama andldquoEIkIyaandrdquoThe filmand#39s director, Yavuz Turgul, is one of three honorary award recipients of this yearand#39s festival, along with German actress Hanna Schygulla, who will be recognized for her part in Turkish director Erden KIraland#39s 1993 film andldquoMavi Surgunandrdquo (The Blue Exile), festival organizer Ayten AkyIldIz told Cihan. andldquoWeand#39ve really raised the bar this year We will be hosting some very remarkable directors, producers and actors from Turkey and Germany in Nuremberg for this yearand#39s festival,andrdquo she added.

A total of 39 titles by Turkish and German directors will vie for awards at the festivaland#39s feature film competition, which will run from March 13 through 22.
