Tarabya Academy 2014 residents present work at Pera MuseumIstanbulandrsquos Tarabya Cultural Academy is presenting work by its 13 artists in residence for 2014 in a special program on Thursday evening at the Pera MuseumThe institution, which opened in October 2011, has been providing scholarships to promising artists in all fields of the arts since September 2012, and the 13 people presenting their newest works this week at Pera range from contemporary artists to documentary directors and from photographers to performance artists and poets.Located in the former summer residence of the German Embassy in the Tarabya quarter, the academy is run by the German Embassy in Ankara and curated by the Goethe Institut-Istanbul.

Documentary filmmaker Regine Dura, poet Kurt Drawert, photographer Ola Kolehmainen, performance artist Nezaket Ekici and writer-directors AyIe Polat, Miraz Bezar and Ayat Najafi are among those presenting work at the Pera event, which will begin at 7 pm German author-poet Nico Bleutge, another artist in residence of the academyand#39s 2014 term, will offer a poetry recital following the presentations, Goethe Institut-Istanbul said in a recent press release announcing the program The Duende jazz quartet, featuring Sabri TuluI TIrpan on piano, Erdal Akyol on bass, Sedef Eretin Atala on cello and Turker olak on percussion, will be wrapping up the event with a live performance.The Tarabya Cultural Academy offers residence programs varying in duration from three to 10 months.

There is no application process to the academy, which chooses its artists in residence from a list of names proposed by a five-member jury panel made up of professionals from various fields of the arts.
