New concert series in Istanbul to offerjazz on the BosporusSummer jazz festivals in Istanbul may have already ended their 2014 editions and jazz clubs in the city are closed for the season, but a new concert series beginning this week looks set to keep Istanbul’s jazz lovers happy with a program featuring some of the best jazz musicians in town combined with a Bosporus tourTitled “Denizde Caz” (Jazz at Sea), the series features live performances on a boat, The Primetime, as it sails the waters of the Bosporus with the panorama of Istanbul in the evening as a backdrop.The series will open on Aug.

8 with a concert by the Elif aIlar Quartet featuring saxophonist Yahya Dai as special guest. Led by aIlar on vocals, the quartet also features KurIad Deniz on the piano, KaIan YIldIz on double bass and Ediz HafIzoIlu on drums.

Set to continue until Sept. 19, the series will also see performances by the AyIe Gencer Quartet with trumpeter Imer Demirer as their guest (Aug.

22) and the Randy Esen Quartet with trumpeter Ienova ulker (Sept. 5).

The Sibel Kse Trio and guitarist NeIet Ruacan will wrap up the series with a performance on Sept. 19.
