‘Kuzu’ returns with four awards from Spanish festivalTurkish director KutluI Atamanand#39s latest film andldquoKuzuandrdquo (The Lamb) garnered four awards at the Valladolid International Film Festival, aka Seminci Internacional de Cine de Valladolid, in Spain, increasing its number of accolades to 11.andldquoKuzuandrdquo won the best screenplay and the best photography award at the main competition of the Spanish festivaland#39s 59th edition, where Turkey was featured as the guest country, according to the website of the festival.

The film uses the occasion of the circumcision of a young boy, Mert, to explore relations in his desperately poor family, and how his parents behave under the weight of the social expectation to roast a lamb for a celebration feast.Mert TaItan and SIla Lara Canturk, the child actors of andldquoKuzu,andrdquo were also honored at the festival for their roles in the film, according to news reports.

Having premiered at the Berlin Film Festivaland#39s Panorama section in 2014, andldquoKuzuandrdquo won a total of six awards at the Antalya AltIn Portakal (Golden Orange) International Film Festival, including the best film award, in Turkey.andldquozumun Nuruandrdquo (Eye Am) from co-directors HakkI KurtuluI and Melik SaraoIlu was deemed worthy of a special mention at the Meeting Point section of the Spanish festival, while short Turkish film andldquoBir Turk Kahvesi Fincanandrdquo (A Cup of Turkish Coffee) was named the best foreign short film at the Seminci.

In addition, a selection of Turkish films was shown at the Seminci festival on the occasion of the 100th year of Turkish cinema.
