‘Kuzu’ director KutluI Ataman calls off film’s theatrical releaseContemporary artist and film director KutluI Ataman has decided to postpone this weekandrsquos nationwide theatrical release of his latest feature film, andldquoKuzuandrdquo (The Lamb), the directorandrsquos publicist announced on Tuesday.Ataman also canceled the filmandrsquos gala screening that was to take place Tuesday evening in Istanbul at the last minute because he has andldquodecided to fulfill his recently deceased motherandrsquos wish,andrdquo which was for the film to be shown first in the familyandrsquos native Erzincan, according to a statement issued Tuesday morning by Atamanandrsquos publicist.

Atamanandrsquos mother, NursaI Ataman, died on Dec. 8 in Istanbul.

andldquoKuzu,andrdquo which had its world premiere earlier this year at the Berlin International Film Festival, was scheduled to open in cinemas nationwide on Friday. The film had its Turkish premiere in October, as part of this yearandrsquos 51st Antalya AltIn Portakal (Golden Orange) International Film Festival, where it won six awards in total, including the top award for best filmandldquoKuzu,andrdquo which offers a humorous look at the story of a poverty-stricken family in an eastern Anatolian village, has also won numerous awards internationally, including the International Confederation of Art Cinemas (CICAE) award at Berlinaleandrsquos Panorama section and best screenplay and best cinematography at Spainandrsquos Valladolid International Film Festival.

Ataman has yet to announce a new theatrical release date for his film.
