Istanbul’s Pera Fest stands up against violence in 2015Istanbuland#39s annual Pera Fest has chosen andldquoart against violenceandrdquo as the main theme for its 2015 edition, the organizers announced Wednesday. The festival, which was previously held in autumn, is moving to spring starting with 2015, which will be the multidisciplinary eventand#39s 13th year, according to a press release from the Istanbul-based Intercultural Communication and Interdisciplinary Art Association.

The 2015 festival will get under way on Saturday, March 21, which is World Poetry Day. The opening day will feature a special poetry event by the private theater company Tiyatro PeraTheater is the main focus of this yearand#39s program, which will run until April 3 Plays and movies that have violence as a central theme are specifically highlighted in the program, the organizers said.

The festival will also commemorate the late Turkish author YaIar Kemal, who died on Feb. 28, at age 91, with a special event on April 1 at SALT BeyoIlu.
