Gérard Depardieu bringing ‘Love Letters’ to Istanbul stageGandeacuterard Depardieu and Agathe Natanson are set for a one-off performance next week in Istanbul.The French actors will stage andldquoLove Letters,andrdquo a play by American playwright A R Gurney that was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, on Jan.

8 at the Zorlu Center PSMandrsquos main theater in a production directed by Benoandicirct Lavigne.The play follows two characters, Andrew Makepeace Ladd III (Depardieu) and Melissa Gardner (Natanson), a US senator and a failed artist, as they sit at a table and read notes, letters and cards theyandrsquove sent to each other throughout a period of 50 years.

andldquoLove Letters,andrdquo which has been translated into more than 30 languages, has featured such world renowned actors as Elizabeth Taylor, Mel Gibson, Kathleen Turner, Sigourney Weaver and Christopher Walken in its various productions to date.The play was first performed by Gurney with Holland Taylor at the New York Public Library in 1988.

A Broadway production of the play opened in October 1989 at the Edison Theatre, where it had 96 performances, featuring different couples of actors in its cast throughout its run.Tickets for the Jan.
