Design for planned Roboski Museum selectedThe architectural plans for a museum and commemorative site to be constructed in Uludere (Roboski in Kurdish) in memory of 34 civilians killed by Turkish military jets near the southeastern village in 2011 was selected as the result of a design competition and announced on Sunday in Istanbul.A plan by architect Ozan ztepe was named the winner of the Roboski Museum and Memorial Place Architectural Design Competition, organized by the Roboski Museum Initiative.

Of 25 total projects, the five that made it to the finals were presented and discussed on Saturday in a meeting attended by the projects’ owners, the competition’s jury, an aisory committee and the families of the victims. Apart from the winner, four other projects were deemed worthy of awards.

They were acknowledged as having achieved equal success as that of the winner, and all five were presented with special jury prizes.The construction of the museum near the area where the cemeteries of the victims are located is expected to start soon.

The money needed for construction will be raised through donations and charity events, including concerts and exhibitions.
