Ankara film festival announces national competition lineupNine recent Turkish films will be running for awards in the national feature competition of this yearand#39s Ankara International Film Festival, the organizers announced on Wednesday.The preliminary jury had initially selected 10 films for the competition, but one of them was withdrawn from the running by its director because the head of this yearand#39s competition jury had supported the film during its production, the Ankara-based World Mass Media Research Foundation said in a press release.

Festival organizers praised director Nesimi Yetikand#39s ethical awareness in removing his film andldquoToz Ruhuandrdquo (Spirit of Dust) from the competition, whose panel of judges will be headed by director Onur unlu.The remaining nine films in competition announced on Wednesday were andldquoAnnemin IarkIsIandrdquo (Song of My Mother), directed by Erol MintaI andldquoAsasIz Musaandrdquo (Moses Without the Rod), by AydIn Orak andldquoBalIkandrdquo (Fish), by DerviI Zaim andldquoekmeky Underground,andrdquo by Aysim Turkmen andldquoDaI ieIiandrdquo (Mountain Flower), by Caner Canerik andldquoFirak,andrdquo by Halil zer andldquoIimdeki Insanandrdquo (The Human Within Me), by AydIn Sayman andldquoNeden Tarkovski OlamIyorum?andrdquo (Why Canand#39t I Be Tarkovsky?), by Murat DuzgunoIlu and andldquoSesime Gelandrdquo (Come to My Voice), by Huseyin Karabey.

The films will be vying for awards in 18 categories, and the winners will be announced on May 2 The 26th Ankara International Film Festival will run from April 23 through May 3.
